Greg Sandow: Three Quartets
Quartet for Anne · The Remembered Song · Mahler Variations
Terra String Quartet
- Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance
- Best Engineered Album, Classical
Three string quartets by composer and critic Greg Sandow, written at different times and for different reasons, heard here as a single arc: an intimate birthday gift, a meditation on a half-remembered song, and a 22-variation journey on the theme of Mahler’s Third Symphony finale.
Terra String Quartet first encountered Sandow as his students at Juilliard. Years later they recorded his works at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, University of Maryland.
